Joel Womochil

Joel Womochil is the former Police Chief of Burns, Kansas, who served from February 8th, 2022, until he resigned on August 8th, 2023, just days before his arrest for possessing child pornography. He is a registered Republican voter. 

He pled guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit sexual exploitation of child/production of child pornography on 3/28/2025. Also convicted were Denise Sandmann Yoder, Jessica Quave, and Taylor Mullen.

At his arrest in 2023, he was in possession of 13 videos. One video involved a child under five. Quave and Mullen produced the videos at their home under the direction of Womochil. Mullen admitted to knowing that a child was being sexually exploited and filmed. Sandmann Yoder admitted to producing child pornography videos for Womochil after meeting online. 

Quave was sentenced to 30 years. Sandmann Yoder was sentenced to 60 years. Mullen was sentenced to 30 years.

Republican Police Chief Joel Womochil was sentenced to 60 years and $529,050 in restitution.
